Spoilers Begin Here High above the clouds, there was an airship that was carrying an orphaned girl named Sheeta (J: Keiko Yokozawa, E: Anna Paquin). She was captured by a government agent named Muska (J: Minori Terada, E: Mark Hamill). They were on their way to a place that was not revealed... yet. Then, the airship was attacked by a crew of air pirates, led by a woman named Dola (J: Kotoe Hatsui, E: Cloris Leachman). During the conflict, Sheeta managed to escape. She got out through a window. She tried to get into another room, but she ended up falling off the airship. She was high up in the sky, so when she fell... there was no way for her to survive. However, her necklace saved her life. It seemed to have magical properties, and it floated her safely to the ground. Sheeta landed in a 19th century mining town called Slag Ravine. She was found by an orphaned boy named Pazu (J: Mayumi Tanaka, E: James Van Der Beek)

Now, it is time to talk about Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings released in 2021. Spoilers Begin Here Over one thousand years ago, a man named Xu Wenwu (Tony Leung) came into possession of some mystical items known as the Ten Rings. With the Ten Rings, Xu Wenwu had power that rivaled that of gods. He could have used these powers for good, but he instead used these powers to be a great conqueror. Over the years, he started his own terrorist organization known as the Ten Rings. For about a millennia, the Ten Rings ruthlessly conquered many places. However, there was one place that was just out of his reach, an ancient village known as Ta Lo. Ta Lo was well hidden. Then, in 1996, he finally made it to Ta Lo. Upon entering, he came across a woman named Ying Li (Fala Chen). Ying Li deemed him to be an unwelcome guest. The two fought... and in spite having possesion of the Ten Rings, Xu Wenwu lost to Ying Li. After the fight, the two of them fell in love, got married and had two

He experienced a great tragedy in his old home... and wanted to protect people from that... and their wishes. So, he began to study magic and became a great sorcerer. He and his wife, Amaya found a new kingdom on a Mediterranean island. This kingdom became known as the Kingdom of Rosas. Overtime, people from around the globe settled in the Kingdom of Rosas, and King Magnifico was their beloved king. When a citizen of the Kingdom of Rosas turns 18, he or she gives their deepest wish to King Magnifico, King Magnifico would keep it safe, and the people won't remember it. Then, once a month, King Magnifico will grant one wish. The people were happy with this system. Now, we get to the present day (well, at least for when the film is set). Welcome to Studio Ghibli Movie Reviews. Before we get started, I should... as usual... go over a brief history of Studio Ghibli. Studio Ghibli is Japanese animation studio founded by Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata and Toshio Suzuki. Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata worked for years in the Japanese film and animation industry, having worked on animations, such as The Great Adventures of Horus, Prince of the Sun and Panda! Go, Panda! Toshio Suzuki was an editor for a manga magazine called Tokuma Shoten Publishing. The company was founded on June 15th, 1985. Since then, Studio Ghibli has become one of the most respected film companies, creating many films that are considered not just anime classics, but classics in animation as a whole. Of course, being a Japanese company, we in the United States would naturally have difficulty experiencing these films. Enter the Walt Disney company. Now it is time to talk about Balto released in 1995 and very loosely based off of true events. Spoilers Begin Here The movie begins in a live action present day Central Park. A woman and her granddaughter were searching for a memorial, but in the process, the two decided to take a rest. While resting, the grandmother decided to tell her granddaughter the story of the memorial they were searching... a story set in Nome, Alaska in the year 1925. We are then brought to an animated version of Nome, Alaska. There, dogsledding was the most popular sport. Dogsledding is an activity that almost all dogs thrive to participate, especially a stray dog named Balto. There is just one problem... Balto is not a pure dog. He is a wolfdog, the result of the mating of a domestic dog and a wolf. As such, he is shunned by the humans of Nome, who view him as a wild animal that will attack at any time. He is also shunned by fellow canines, especially the top sled dog in Nome, an Alaskan malamute named

In the olden days, there were four ratings. The G rating was given to movies that are appropriate for all ages. The PG rating is more adult, but kids could still come and see. The R rating is pretty much strictly for adults. Then there is the X rating... basically porn. This seemed to work fine for a while, then came two movies called Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Gremlins. Where could we possibly categorize these two movies? Too inappropriate for a PG rating, too family friendly for an R rating. Ultimately, both movies got the PG rating, but parents still complained, and something needed to be done. The solution was a brand-new rating... PG-13. The first movie released in the states to earn the PG-13 rating was the subject we will be talking about today... Red Dawn, directed by John Milius. However, they could not stay in Ohio. As it turns out, this family... were not who they said they were. Nobody in the family were even biologically related. They are from Russia. The father was a Russian super soldier named Alexei Shostakov (David Harbour) and the mother was a Black Widow assassin named Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz). They were in America working as undercover agents, and acting as a family was the perfect disguise. Why was the family forced to leave? Alexei stole intel from S.H.I.E.L.D., and they were forced to flee to Cuba. Upon landing in Cuba, the family was split up. Melina, who was injured during the escape, had to go in for medical attention. Alexei was arrested. Now it is time to talk about Trolls Band Together released in 2023. Spoilers Begin Here Years before the events of the first Trolls movie, Branch was a baby. He wasn't any ordinary baby, he was the youngest member of a boyband called BroZone. BroZone consisted of Branch and his four older brothers. The leader of the band, and Branch's oldest brother, was John Dory (Eric Andre). The next brother was the heartthrob, Spruce (Daveed Diggs). The middle child is the funny one, Clay (Kid Cudi). Then, there is the second youngest, the sensitive one Floyd (Troye Sivan). During a concert, the brothers tried to do something called the "Perfect Family Harmony". It ended in disaster. Now it is time to talk about We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story released in 1993 and based on the children's book by Hudson Talbott. Spoilers Begin Here It is the Mesozoic Era. A tyrannosaurus was chasing after its prey. But then, the tyrannosaurus was abducted and brought aboard a mysterious flying machine. In the ship, an alien named Vorb fed the tyrannosaurus a mysterious cereal. This cereal greatly boosted the dinosaur's intelligence. The t-rex was able to talk and think rationally. This t-rex was given the name... Rex. In the ship, Rex met three other dinosaurs (or more accurately, two other dinosaurs and one flying reptile) that were fed the cereal. These other three individuals were a pterodactyl named Elsa, a triceratops named Woog and a parasaurolophus named Dweeb. Not long after meeting his new friends, Rex was introduced to Vorb's boss, a human from the distant future named Captain Neweyes. Neweyes explained the prehistoric quartet the situation. Child's Play is one of the most iconic horror franchises of all time. Created by Don Mancini, Child's Play follows a killer doll known as Chucky. The first film was released in 1988 and directed by Tom Holland... not the Tom Holland that played Spider-Man in the MCU. It received mostly positive reviews and was a box office hit. The film was distributed by MGM, but before the second movie was released, Universal bought the franchise. MGM still held the rights to the first film, and in 2019... they released a reboot directed by Lars Klevberg. Don Mancini didn't want this film to be made... but he could not legally stop it. This movie was a relatively big hit and got mixed reviews. Some years have gone by, so now we can ask the following question. Which Child's Play is better? The 1988 original or the 2019 remake?
